SHELBYVILLE (Heartland Newsfeed) — The State of Illinois will soon reopen bidding to redevelop the Eagle Creek Resort on Lake Shelbyville near Findlay.

Ed Cross, a representative for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources revealed new details Monday regarding a lone bid received from Sullivan-based Sullivan Harbor, which was rejected.

No details were immediately made available on why Sullivan Harbor’s bid was rejected and will present an update as more information is made available.

Cross noted that a timeline was not set to begin the second round of bidding, but said Eagle Creek “remains on our radar.”

The resort was constructed in the 1980s and was in operation until 2009, following a major mold infestation and financial problems which led to the closure and has been a focus for redevelopment in recent years. The adjacent Eagle Creek Golf Course reopened in 2010 and is currently operated by Green Golf Partners, which took over operations in April 2014.
