Ex-MLB pitcher, longtime Giants executive Dick Tidrow dies at 74

SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) -- Dick Tidrow, a former MLB pitcher who later became a longtime member of the San Francisco Giants' front office, has died. He was 74. NEW YORK (UPI) -- The New York Mets signed three veteran players, including former Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Melky Cabrera, to minor league contracts. The Mets announced the additions of right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland, infielder Gordon Beckham and Cabrera on Monday.
