JEFFERSON CITY (Missourinet) -- Beginning with the next election cycle in 2024, sheriffs elected in Missouri will have fewer options for retirement. Two bills signed by Gov. Mike Parson will require all future sheriffs to only use the Sheriff’s Retirement System. As a result, they won’t be vested until they’ve served two four-year terms in office. JEFFERSON CITY (MissouriNet) -- Ameren Missouri plans to increase its electricity rates for the 1.3 million customers it serves in the central and eastern parts of the state. The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved the St. Louis-based utility’s request to raise rates for its residential, commercial, and industrial customers. RURAL MONROE COUNTY, Missouri (MissouriNet) -- A semi driver reportedly failed to stop at a railroad crossing and struck a Norfolk Southern train on Sunday in Monroe County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the truck driver, Russell Minnis, 65, of Higbee, died at the crash scene. COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri Board of Curators unanimously approved a contract extension Saturday for football head coach Eli Drinkwitz.
