KNAPP: “Peak libertarianism?” No, Thom Hartmann is just a sore winner.

“We have now reached peak Libertarianism,” Thom Hartmann informs us at CounterPunch, “and this bizarre experiment that has been promoted by the billionaire class for over 40 years is literally killing us.” That claim is so bizarre on its face that it’s easy to dismiss. On the other hand, even the craziest claims can fool people if nobody takes the time to debunk them. Even in its most watered-down, weak-tea form, Libertarianism calls for “smaller government.” That’s not its real […]

FDA authorizes pool testing for COVID-19 through Quest

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration reissued an emergency use authorization to Quest Diagnostics to use its COVID-19 tests with up to four pooled samples Saturday. According to the FDA, the Quest test is the first COVID-19 test to be authorized for use with pooled samples. Sample pooling allows multiple people to be tested in a pool or "batch" using one test, rather than running each individual sample through its own test. If the batch tests positive, […]

Illinois State Board of Elections wants to continue challenge of third-party ballot access

SPRINGFIELD (Capitol News Illinois) — Illinois’ chief election authority told a federal appeals court Monday it wants to continue its appeal of looser election rules for third-party candidates.
