OP-ED: 21 ways why supporting the political establishment is WORSE than voting third-party

The vote-shaming engines have predictably kicked into high gear in America as the presidential election approaches, with shitlib pundits like Bill Maher doing their part to paint third-party voters as the most toxic people in the world. Which is of course ridiculous. I have no strong opinions about how Americans should vote in November, but it’s obvious that in terms of toxicity third-party voters are not on the list of people who are worthy of criticism. The dire situation humanity now finds […]

Specimen ballot now available in Montgomery County

HILLSBORO -- Two statewide races and a statewide referendum are at the top of the November 3, 2020, general election ballot in Montgomery County. While most races are either chock full of candidates, others are either uncontested or left between the two major political parties. That is unless you're in County Board District 2. A Republican district that has gone uncontested since 2008, it has become a district in contention once again. Libertarian Jake Leonard is seeking election to the […]

AUDIO: Peoria-area candidate forum “held” for Senate District 46 and House Districts 91 & 92

PEORIA -- The debate set for Thursday night did not exactly go as planned. The event, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria, East Side Community Media and Fondulac District Library, would have to cut the event short. The reasoning: some of the candidates did not respond. Another couldn't attend due to an emergency. The forum was featuring candidates running for office in Senate District 46, as well as House Districts 91 and 92. Participating in the […]

Martin’s Montgomery County case continued to October 1

HILLSBORO -- Monday's preliminary hearing in Montgomery County court is resulting in yet another uneventful delay for Abigail L. Martin. Martin, 23, with a Macoupin County address made her first appearance with new counsel, Public Defender Erin Mattson, during a videoconference setting. The call also would include State's Attorney Bryant Hitchings and Judge Don Sheafor, Jr. However, according to Judici, there isn't too much additional details on the case since her last appearance on July 30. Sheafor would push for an […]

Federal judge affirms Wisconsin election body decision to keep Kanye West off the ballot

MILWAUKEE -- A Federal judge is upholding the decision of Wisconsin's election authority, keeping rapper Kanye West off the ballot. In a hearing Friday night, Judge John Zakowski made a ruling in favor of the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC), putting a final nail in the coffin for West's quest to make it on the ballot for President. West campaign would turn in petitions 14 seconds too late West filed the lawsuit against the WEC over their previous action to bar […]

O’DELL: Don’t waste your vote on a Democrat or a Republican this November

Another election is quickly approaching us within the next 100 days. Once again, the Democrats and Republicans have presented their constituents with (arguably) the two most polarizing options possible. In 2020, that comes in the form of incumbent "Republican" Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden. Surely, it is going to be overwhelming for voters to watch candidates publish radio and television ad hominem attacks rather than debating relevant talking points. However, your voting options do not have limitations with these […]

Colorado secretary of state sues USPS over mailer on voting

DENVER (UPI) -- Colorado's secretary of state filed a federal lawsuit against the United States Postal Service over mailers that contain inaccurate information about mail-in voting. Jena Griswold said her office learned Thursday that the postal service would send mailers to every household in the United States with information about mail-in voting. The mailers advise voters to request a vote-by-mail ballot at least 15 days before Election Day and to return the official ballot at least seven days before the […]

Former candidate files Federal suit on ability to donate campaign funds to Libertarian Party

WASHINGTON -- A former Libertarian hopeful is asking a Federal court for guidance regarding the transfer of unspent campaign funds to the national Libertarian Party. Wealthy businessman Shaun McCutcheon has filed a lawsuit in a District of Columbia district court requesting such an action. The filing shows a timestamp of September 4. The premise of the lawsuit: either the court forces the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to answer his question, or the judge answers it instead. McCutcheon wishes to transfer […]
