Extreme Heat Warning in effect for SW Illinois, Metro-East, Eastern Missouri

The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Madison County and much of the St. Louis region. The warning takes effect at noon Sunday, August 9, and remains in place until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 12. Forecasters expect heat index values as high as 109 degrees.
