STONINGTON -- The Stonington village board met for its regular meeting on Monday, October 7, at the village hall. Among its short agenda items were the discussion of golf cart ordinances and concrete work being done at one of the village's businesses. PANA -- Pana Community Unit School District #8 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, August 15, to celebrate the grand opening of its newest elementary school. ASSUMPTION -- The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) held an open house-like public hearing at Central A&M Middle School in Assumption Thursday night. The subject matter of the hearing was to discuss the intersection of U.S. Highway 51 and Leafland Street on the east side of town. The City of Pana, in coordination with Pana Pride, will host "Dumpster Days" Friday and Saturday at the city's street department yard, located on North Elm Street. PANA -- A Pana woman was arrested earlier this week on accusations of child grooming stemming back to an incident in late February. The Christian County Sheriff's Department (CCSD) was made aware of an adult female within Christian County who had been sending unwanted texts to multiple juveniles.
