CAHOKIA HEIGHTS -- Multiple people, including a firefighter, were injured Saturday in a three-vehicle crash involving a Cahokia Heights fire truck on Illinois Route 3. The crash occurred at about 1:10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 3 and East Fifth Street, according to the Cahokia Heights Fire Department. The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for Madison County and much of the St. Louis region. Home, auto insurers respond to new Illinois laws

Illinois insurance companies are responding to new state laws that give regulators authority to review and approve home and auto insurance rate changes. Gov. JB Pritzker signed the bills Tuesday. Illinois and Wyoming were previously the only states without regulatory control over insurance rates. The new laws take effect July 1, 2027. House Bill 4273 addresses homeowners insurance.
