Champaign County woman dies in interstate crash in Effingham County

NEAR EFFINGHAM -- On Friday at approximately 4:19 a.m., the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-57 southbound, approximately three miles south of Effingham. Officers arrived and found a female deceased in the vehicle. She was identified as Alyashailyassa Muhammad, 20, of Dewey in rural Champaign County.
