Inclement weather postpones Lucas Oil LM Dirt Series weekend doubleheader, rescheduled for July

PONTOON BEACH/MACON (Heartland Newsfeed) — Inclement weather involving heavy rainfall at times contributed to this weekend’s Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series being postponed in the series’ two stops in Illinois.

Following previous coverage, Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach was the first venue to postpone the event following forecasts that predicted rainfall leading up to the event Friday night, April 26. Series officials and Track Enterprises, the managing entity of the track, have determined a July 11 reschedule for the series events.

The July 11 rescheduled event features the Hoker Trucking Best in the Business 50 in conjunction with the NAPA Know How 50, taking place the following night on Friday, July 12. Complete programs of the Miller Welders Time Trials, heat races, B-Mains and the $12,000-to-win main event will be held during both events on consecutive nights.

A similar forecast resulted in a similar fate for Macon Speedway in southern Macon County, result in a postponement of Saturday’s event. A July 23 date has been set for the return. The rescheduled event will take place a few days following a two-day event involving the ninth annual Silver Dollar Nationals at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. A complete program of the Time Trials, heat races, B-Mains and $12,000-to-win, 100-lap main event will take place during the rescheduled event.

The announcement of the rescheduling of both Illinois events were made late Thursday.

The series will continue next weekend going through Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tenn. and Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. Friday night’s event at Tazewell includes a 50-lap main event sponsored by Toyota Knoxville, Secret City Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram and Ted Russell Ford. Saturday night’s event at Florence is the thirty-third annual Ralph Latham Memorial. Both main events have a $12,000-to-win jackpot to the race winner.
