ALTAMONT – After five years serving in the Altamont School District, District Superintendent Casey Adam is resigning.

The Altamont CUSD #10 Board of Education accepted Adam’s resignation during its monthly business meeting on Monday, December 8.

“This decision is entirely personal and reflects a desire to relocate out of state,” said Adam in a statement. “This has nothing to do with any concerns about the District, its leadership team, staff, students, or community – all of whom I hold in the highest regard.”

She further expresses gratitude for the trust placed in her to serve alongside such talented educators and supportive families.

Adam will continue to serve for the remainder of the 2025-26 academic year. Her resignation is effective as of June 30, 2026. Meanwhile, the Board will begin the process to launch a search for a successor. This is to ensure not only continuity of leadership but also minimal disruption to students and staff.

Other business

Among other items of business in the December 8 meeting were:

  • The Board’s declaring its intention to issue $3.35 million in working cash fund bonds. This would allow for a six-classroom addition to Altamont Grade School, the addition of a concession pavilion, demo and new construction of a storage building south of the grade school, and a drainage and repaving project at Altamont Community High School.
  • Seniors Joel Bauer, Ben Osterholtz, Clayton Haarmann, and Brayden Schnarre shared that they plan to enter military service following graduation.
  • Approval of a 11% increase in EAV for its next tax levy.
  • An update from Superintendent Adam to find updated materials for high school biology, earth science, phonics, and weight training.
  • Worker’s compensation policy renewal through Previsor was approved for $33,572.
  • The Board took the following actions relating to employee matters: accepted the resignation of Rhiannon Boehm as grade school art teacher (effective end of 2025-26 academic year), hired Lindsey Durkin as a grade school paraprofessional, and approved the leave of absence for an employee.
  • Approved changes to the high school course catalog.
