Joe Buck - July 2026 - The Kilcoyne Conversation
LITCHFIELD — The National Weather Service office in St. Louis, in coordination with the Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency, will be hosting a storm spotter training class this spring.
The class will take place at 6 p.m. inside the auditorium of the Litchfield campus of Lincoln Land Community College, 1 Lincoln Land Drive.
The class is free and typically lasts roughly two hours. Participants will learn about thunderstorm development, storm structure, how to identify severe weather features, how to report information, and basic severe weather safety.
Attendees of all ages are encouraged to attend, including first responders, news media, government officials, school staff, ham radio operators, and civic/community groups.
The next closest training course in the region will be April 10 at Greenville University’s Dietzman Center Room.
There are two remote training sessions, the first of which will be on February 18. The other will be on April 22. Start times for both sessions are scheduled for 6 p.m. The first session was rescheduled from January 30 due to inclement winter weather.
