ST. LOUIS — Two members of the St. Louis CITY2 squad were sent off on loan over the weekend. The move from the CITY SC front office has midfielder Isak Jensen and goalkeeper Eric Walker going on loan.

Jensen, 19, is heading back to his native Denmark on loan to Superliga club Viborg F.F.

The Danish midfielder has made contributions to the senior and second sides this season. Across all competitions, he has tallied 13 appearances for CITY SC. In addition, he made eight appearances with CITY2, recording a goal and two assists.

Walker is heading to Indy Eleven on a short-term loan. He has made five appearances for CITY2 this season.

Details on the loans

Limited details and specifics on the loans are available outside of the lengths of the loans.

Walker’s loan from CITY2 to Indy Eleven will be until the end of the 2023 season. Indy Eleven, which is in the USL Championship, is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference. The team is currently eligible for post-season play with six regular season games remaining. Upon Indy Eleven’s elimination from the USL Championship Playoffs, Walker will return to CITY2.

Jensen’s loan, however, is a bit longer term. He will be with Viborg until the conclusion of the 2023-24 Superliga season. His return date is currently July 2024.

Remarks on the CITY loans

CITY SC sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel is hoping for the best for Jensen while on loan.

“We wish Isak all the best during his loan,” Pfannenstiel said. “Heading to Viborg, who finished third in the regular season last year, can provide a great opportunity to play at a competitive level and help continue his professional growth.”

CITY2 head coach Bobby Murphy would share similar sentiments for Walker in his loan to Indy.

“Eric has a great opportunity to continue his professional growth in another competitive league,” Murphy said. “We wish him all the best for the remainder of the season.”
