We'll See About That with Ron Cey Episode 157 Leave Tom Hardy Alone! Ron Cey
NEAR TAYLORVILLE — The Christian County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) is investigating a traffic crash near Taylorville resulting in the dead of a 31-year-old Nokomis man.
On Wednesday, Dec. 8 at approximately 8:11 p.m., Christian-Shelby 911 received a call for an automotive accident on the Nokomis-Taylorville Blacktop (County Highway 1) just north of County Highway 8. The call was in relation to a car and semi-tractor collision.
CCSD responded to the scene with Dunn’s Ambulance Service and both Taylorville Police and Fire departments. Also responding to the scene include the Illinois State Police (ISP) and Christian County Coroner’s Office.
Initial reconstructions at the scene did reveal that the semi was northbound on County Highway 1, with Charles L. Cummings Jr. of Nokomis driving southbound in a car. The reconstruction revealed that Cummings’ car crossed the center line and struck the semi.
Following the collision, Cummings was trapped inside the vehicle. Taylorville Fire was able to extricate Cummings from the vehicle. However, he did not survive. The Coroner’s Office would pronounce Cummings dead on the scene at 9:22 p.m.
No other injuries would occur at the scene.
ISP officers on the scene would reconstruct the crash and conduct a commercial motor vehicle inspection.
An autopsy of Cummings will be held at a later date in Bloomington.
