NOKOMIS — Operational changes will be taking place for Amazon HUB operations in the Nokomis area later this month.
An announcement by Amazon on Friday morning revealed that those changes will apply as of Wednesday, January 28.
Current Amazon HUB operations have required delivery runs from the Amazon distribution facility in Pekin. Operations are shifting for the Pekin facility, due to two new distribution centers in Illinois for Quincy and Springfield. Changes also applied to a newer facility in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Some HUB Partners were reassigned to the Quincy and Terre Haute facilities, but none had yet been reassigned to Springfield.
This comes as the Pekin facility and its Delivery Service Partners are seeking to expand their delivery territory. Rumored plans include expansion toward the Quad Cities and Northern Illinois. This has been an item of discussion as they cede downstate territory to Quincy, Springfield, and Terre Haute.
All daily routes to Nokomis’ HUB delivery partners as of January 28 will be coming out of the Springfield facility.
Previously, delivery routes involved the City of Nokomis and all points up to ten miles out. Under the new program terms, the delivery route will now be the City of Nokomis and all points up to three miles out. This change was enacted to allow HUB Partners to spend more time in their businesses by focusing on more localized routes.
This will affect Witt and rural stops in Nokomis and Witt, as well as stops in Ohlman and rural stops in Rosamond and Pana. Rural stops up to three miles outside of city limits will continue to receive deliveries by HUB Partners.
Drivers from the DSP facility in Springfield will be handling all stops outside of that range.
Compared to 6:15 a.m. departures from Pekin, Amazon HUB supply runs from Springfield will be leaving as early as 10 a.m., meaning the earliest arrival time would be at least 11 a.m.
The changes apply to both Amazon HUB Partners in Nokomis – Secure Order Marketplace and Heartland Internet Media Networks.
