NOKOMIS — The Board of Education of Nokomis CUSD #22 met in regular session on Tuesday, July 16.

Nokomis Superintendent Dr. Scott Doerr presented the monthly business report, in which he reported that the state has paid all mandated categorical payments except one payment of $1,240.96 for driver’s education. The district has also been reimbursed for all federal expenses during the 2024 fiscal year, which ended on June 30.

Two summer projects are still ongoing: repairs to the roof of Nokomis High School and the replacement of red treads in the Nokomis Junior High School foyer and the north stairwell.

The board approved two items under old business: the awarding of the fuel, oil, and def contract for Fiscal Year 2025 to Huels Oil Company of Carlyle (who happens to have a local facility in Nokomis) and the approval of the final reading of the coaches hiring policy as presented.

Under new business, a resolution was approved to provide for an inter-fund transfer from the site improvement fund for $105,000.

In addition, the board approved the 2024-25 employee handbook, pay schedule for athletic officials for Fiscal Year 2025, and accepted the resignation of Audrey Kirkbride as a route bus driver. Kirkbride’s final day was June 25.

The board would also approve the employment of two full-time substitute teachers: Casey Kirkpatrick (early childhood) and Andrew Herpstreith (junior high science) for the 2024-25 academic year.
