Gary Forbus, 77, Fillmore

Gary Lee Forbus, 77, of Fillmore, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2023, at his home in Fillmore. Private graveside services will be held for the family.

Gary was born on August 12, 1946, in Vandalia, IL, the son of George Clinton and Pauline (Rhodes) Forbus. He married Letta Louise Stephens on October 26, 1968, in Missouri. She passed away on June 26, 2022. He worked for the state of Illinois for 28 years, served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968 during the Vietnam Era, and was affiliated with the Bingham Baptist Church.

Gary is survived by his sons, Aaron Forbus, of Bingham, and Seth (Jhoanna) Forbus, of Fillmore; daughters, Melanie Forbus, of St. Jacob, Stephanie Forbus, of Bingham, Libby Forbus, of Fillmore, and Amy (Mike) Rosenberger, of Ramsey; brothers, Gregory (Sydney) Forbus, of Laurel, MS, and Bruce Forbus, of Wamac; sisters, Joan (Robert) Langley, of Vandalia, Gloria Comper, of Centralia, and Yvonne Upton, of Republic, MO; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Larry and Terry Forbus.

Memorials can be made to the Fayette County Cancer Fund.
