QUINCY — Jury selection will begin in Adams County Court Monday in the murder trial of Timothy W. Bliefnick.
Bliefnick, 39, is facing charges of two counts first-degree murder and one count of home invasion. The charges stem from a February shooting death of his wife Rebecca Bliefnick. Bliefnick made a not-guilty plea on March 24 to the counts.
Rebecca Bliefnick was found dead by a family member on February 23 in her home on Kentucky Road. The status check by a family member was because she didn’t pick up her children from school. Quincy Police Department (QPD) determined that she died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Bliefnick was arrested on March 13 following an investigation spanning several weeks by QPD.
Attorneys representing the prosecution and defense were able to take care of minor items of housekeeping Friday during a brief pretrial hearing.
Jury selection will begin Monday. Prospective jurors will be questioned four at a time until such a time that a 12-person jury is selected. There will also be four alternate selections.
Opening statements in the trial are projected to start on Tuesday. Current projections are that the trial should last two weeks. More than 100 names are on the tentative witness list in the trial.
Bliefnick remains in the Adams County Correctional Center on no bond. If convicted, he will serve, at a bare minimum, a life sentence in prison.
