CHICAGO — The AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door Buy-In preshow continued with singles action. Suzuki-gun’s Lance Archer faced off against The Factory’s Nick Comoroto.
Kevin Kelly and Excalibur were on commentary for the match. Both would describe the match as a “hoss fight.”
Archer took a risk early on with a forward flip into the ring on Comoroto. Unfortunately, it was a botch and he landed on his head again.
Comoroto got Archer up for a gorilla press. However, Archer slid out, taking Comoroto down with a boot. He would then send Comoroto to the floor with a flying tackle.
Action would continue with a brawl on the floor. Comoroto hit a big elbow drop, but couldn’t manage a one-count.
Comoroto dominated the action for a short while, but it was short-lived courtesy of a big boot and rope walk moonsault from Archer.
Fortunately, there were no further botches from Archer as he didn’t land on his head again.
Comoroto hit a power slam for a near fall. He went to the top rope, but Archer caught him with a knee. It would result in an awkward position for the Blackout and the pinfall. Some elements of the match are “bowling shoe ugly.”
Winner: Lance Archer via pinfall (6:08)
Post-match
AEW interviewer Alex Marvez was backstage with an interview with NJPW’s Clark Conners. Conners said he hoped that Tomohiro Ishii “Get’s bell soon.” From our analysis, talking isn’t his strong suit. We presume he meant that Ishii “gets well soon.”
