Half Witt Winery is celebrating its second anniversary in business this Labor Day weekend.
David and Gail Bradshaw opened the establishment on August 24, 2019, offering seven of their award-winning wines. Today, the operation has expanded to 15, winning more than 30 medals in wine competitions.
For the non-wine drinkers, ice-cold beer and Pepsi products are also available, as is bottled water.
Live music has been a feature on Saturday nights – weather permitting – featuring local bands and solo artists. The entertainment usually runs from May through October, with a food truck on location for your eating pleasure.
The namesake for the business is actually based on David’s background, as he was born and raised in Princeton, Ind. before moving to Witt. Gail was born and raised in the Witt area on a dairy farm owned by parents Dale and Lavonne Clayton.
The couple got together, and among their happy hobbies included going to lots of different wineries across Illinois and having fun with life. Their tenth-year wedding anniversary coincides with the celebration.
Half Witt Winery is located at 240 N. Hirst in Witt.
