LITCHFIELD (Heartland Newsfeed) — Two people from Carrollton, Texas were killed in a crash early Saturday on Interstate 55 near Litchfield after their van was sideswiped by another vehicle.
Luis Paulet, 49, and passenger Liz Alejo Mora de Paulet, 31, were ejected and pronounced dead on the scene by Montgomery County coroner Randy Leetham.
Both vehicles were northbound around 2:20 am when a car driven by Caleb Countryman, 21, of Springfield, sideswiped Paulet’s vehicle, according to police.
The roadway was closed for about five and a half hours. The crash is still under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
