Libertarian VP nominee to make campaign stops in Illinois

SPRINGFIELD -- Libertarian vice presidential nominee Jeremy "Spike" Cohen will be in Illinois beginning Sunday in preparation for a campaign blitz in the state. Cohen will be in Springfield Monday as he and running mate Jo Jorgensen file their paperwork for the November 3 election. PEORIA -- Liberty plays in Peoria. This has been a long-standing slogan for the Libertarian Party of Greater Peoria for several years. In 2020, it brings forth a slate of candidates for both county and state legislative offices in November's general election. KEEL: Crony capitalism plays in Peoria

The Peoria City Council has approved an extra 1 percent sales tax, but not for schools, roads, or fire/police protection. This “enhanced” tax rate was set up to benefit the developer who is bringing Portillo’s, the popular Chicago-area hot dog franchise, to Peoria. Developer William Torchia convinced our City Council that such assistance was the only way to bring the iconic restaurant to Peoria.
