Heat wave could slow drought improvement

BLOOMINGTON (FarmWeekNow) -- Soil moisture levels and crop conditions improved significantly the past six weeks. But that pattern could shift as hot and dry conditions are projected to envelope much of the Corn Belt, including Illinois, for at least the next week. State proposes regulations on hemp crops

SPRINGFIELD (Illinois News Network) -- Illinois farmers are one step closer to growing hemp. The Illinois Department of Agriculture released the proposed regulations for growing industrial hemp on December 28. Although Governor Bruce Rauner signed the Industrial Hemp Act in August, planting was delayed pending regulations.
