ID: 22217 nn nn nn nn PRIMARY FUNCTION nn nn nn nnOperates several different machines working with various materials. nn nn nn nn nn nn JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES nn nn nn nDetermine settings of machine.n nCalculate where to cut or bore.n nShape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, silicon and other materials.n nDetermine how fast or slow work piece is fed into machine.n nDetermine how much material to remove.n nSelect tools and materials for the job.n nPlan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.n nPosition work piece on the drill press, lathe, or milling machine.n nMonitor and control feed rate and speed.n nEnsure work piece is properly lubricated and/or cooled.n nRegulate temperature of work piece.n nDetect problems by listening for specific sounds.n nAdjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations.n nMonitor the accuracy of cuts.n nReplace dull cutting tools.n nCheck accuracy of work against PowerPoint specifications.n nProduce quality parts.n nDetermine how automated equipment will cut a part.n nDetermine cutting path.n nConcert path, speed, and feed information into set of instructions for machine tool.n nUse manual and computer-controlled machinery.n nWrite basic programs.n nModify programs in response to problems.n nMaintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.n nMaintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.n nDocuments actions by completing production time sheets.n nAccomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.n nAdditional job duties as assignedn nOther duties as assignedn nn nn nn EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE nn nn nn nHigh school diploma/GED, certificate in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent work experiencen nn nn nn nn nn PHYSICAL DEMANDS nn nn nn nnPhysical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
