Heart of Illinois, Central Illinois football conferences merge

SHELBYVILLE -- Friday night football under the lights will become a little different beginning in 2024 for the Shelbyville Rams. Their Central Illinois Conference (CIC) is merging with the Heart of Illinois Conference (HoIC) starting with the 2024-25 academic year. This merger applies to football only. The new, improved Heart of Illinois Conference will have 16 teams, with large schools and small schools in their own respective divisions. Sullivan-Okaw Valley football to hold trivia night

SULLIVAN -- The Sullivan-Okaw Valley football team will be holding a trivia night fundraiser for the program. The fundraiser will be on Friday, July 22 at the Sullivan American Legion. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. followed by a dinner at 6 p.m. Trivia will begin at 7 p.m. All participants must be 21 or older. Trivia reservations are $20 per person or $100 for a table of six. Piasa blows out Bunker Hill thanks to big first inning

BUNKER HILL (GameChanger Media) -- 13 runs in the first inning helped boost the Piasa Southwestern Birds past Bunker Hill in a win on the road 21-1 on Tuesday.  Abby McDonald, Blythe Roloff, Ashlynn Huber, Maddy Seymour, Sydney Valdes, and Mackenzie Hampsey all contributed in the opening inning with RBIs. Piasa fired up the offense in the first inning. Southwestern Piasa Birds Varsity scored one run when McDonald doubled. Redskins drop game to Staunton after late score

STAUNTON (GameChanger) -- Monday's game against Staunton was a heartbreaker for the Nokomis Lady Redskins, as they lost the lead late in a 6-5 defeat. The game was tied at five with Staunton batting in the bottom of the sixth when Lilly Bandy singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Staunton opened up scoring in the first inning, when Taylor Nolan singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
