JEFFERSON CITY (MissouriNet) -- Ameren Missouri plans to increase its electricity rates for the 1.3 million customers it serves in the central and eastern parts of the state. The Missouri Public Service Commission has approved the St. Louis-based utility’s request to raise rates for its residential, commercial, and industrial customers. RURAL MONROE COUNTY, Missouri (MissouriNet) -- A semi driver reportedly failed to stop at a railroad crossing and struck a Norfolk Southern train on Sunday in Monroe County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the truck driver, Russell Minnis, 65, of Higbee, died at the crash scene. JEFFERSON CITY (MissouriNet) -- A package of tax breaks designed to help childcare centers in Missouri hire more workers failed to make it out of this year’s legislative session. JEFFERSON CITY (Missourinet) -- Newborn children could be raised for up to 18 months within Missouri’s prison system for women. The Missouri House of Representatives has given preliminary approval to a bill that would create a prison nursery program.
