EDWARDSVILLE — Work is underway on resurfacing Illinois Route 159. This will mean some overnight lane closures, weather permitting. The intermittent closures along Illinois 159 are expected to last through November, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. Asphalt resurfacing on Illinois 159 between East Country Lane near Collinsville and Center Grove Road in Edwardsville will require intermittent overnight lane closures. NOKOMIS -- Land of Lincoln Credit Union -- LLCU -- has given the new Nokomis library additional funds to complete its project. In a press release from LLCU earlier this week, the bank donated $10,000 towards the project. A check was presented to library trustees on May 8. DECATUR/NOKOMIS -- Land of Lincoln Credit Union -- LLCU -- of Decatur and Nokomis Savings Bank -- NSB -- have entered into an acquisition agreement. The agreement, signed by LLCU President Robert Ares and NSB President Charlie O'Malley on April 28, will allow LLCU to acquire NSB. The agreement is contingent on regulatory and member approvals. QUINCY -- Jury selection will begin in Adams County Court Monday in the murder trial of Timothy W. Bliefnick. Bliefnick, 39, is facing charges of two counts first-degree murder and one count of home invasion. The charges stem from a February shooting death of his wife Rebecca Bliefnick. Bliefnick made a not-guilty plea on March 24 to the counts. Rebecca Bliefnick was found dead by a family member on February 23 in her home on Kentucky Road. The status check […]
SPRINGFIELD -- Leaders of Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC) and Illinois Wesleyan University announced Tuesday a new guaranteed admission agreement. The agreement will allow eligible LLCC graduates to transfer seamlessly to Illinois Wesleyan. “This is a partnership that will benefit both of our institutions,” said Dr. Jason Dockter, interim vice president of academics at LLCC. NOKOMIS -- The Nokomis Chamber of Commerce met on May 11 at Demi's Diner with a limited agenda. Jim Rupert, representing the Nokomis Public Library, presented a request for $5,000.
