Business filings up in Colorado, employment remains strong

DENVER (The Center Square) -- New business filings in Colorado slowed in growth in the second quarter this year while employment remains strong, according to a report from the Secretary of State’s office. The office says 31,762 business entities filed with the office in the second quarter. While the number of filings went down from the first quarter of 2019 (35,838), they’re up slightly from the 31,573 business entity filings in the second quarter of 2018. The numbers were released […]

Czeching out top day trips in Prague

Few cities can match Prague's over-the-top romance, evocative Old World charm…or its tourist crowds. To escape the masses and experience more of the real Czech Republic, take a bus or train ride outside of the city to see some of the many worthwhile sights just beyond. My three favorites are a rich medieval town, a sobering concentration camp memorial, and a grand Czech castle. Kutná Hora, a beautifully preserved and down-to-earth town, is just a one-hour direct train ride from […]

FedEx won’t renew Amazon ground-delivery contract

MEMPHIS/SEATTLE (UPI) -- FedEx said Wednesday that it will not be renewing its ground-delivery contract with Amazon after it expires in August. "This change is consistent with our strategy to focus on the broader e-commerce market," FedEx said in an emailed statement to Business Insider. The courier company has been working to increase its delivery network through e-commerce and the company said it is "extraordinarily" well-positioned to shift its focus. The announcement comes two months after FedEx said it had […]

Tivoli: still Rome’s great escape two millennia later

When travel dreams take people to Europe, Italy is often their first stop. There's something seductively charming about this country, its people, and la dolce vita. I always feel at home in Italy, whether struggling onto a crowded bus in Rome, navigating the fun chaos of Naples, sipping a cocktail in a Venetian bar, or sitting on the banister of Florence's Ponte Vecchio for a midnight street-music concert. But I also seek escapes from Italy's urban intensity. When I'm visiting Rome, […]

Choosing the best venue for your August conference or convention

Those who have a conference to plan will certainly have a great number of things to think about. Of course, the individual in question will need to plan how the conference goes in terms of structure and what is going to be said. However, they also need to think about aspects such as where the conference venue is based and the date of the occasion. First and foremost, one of the most important aspects which must be considered is the […]

Why companies and business owners may be concerned about stock prices in IPO offerings

The majority of business houses and companies owe great importance to their stock price. And still, they take part minimally in trading the business shares in the stock market. Businesses also get capital from the securities market when they initially sell their security to the public in a primary market, which gets termed as an IPO (Initial Public Offering) When all the shares get traded to a secondary market, the everyday investors sell and buy the stock and benefit from […]

Taking proactive steps to settling and mitigating business debt

No one wants to remain in debt for a long time and answer to collection calls. However, obtaining credit is easy these days but managing debt is as hard as it can be without proper planning and process followed. If you want to keep your debts within your manageable level, then you will need to change your concept about debt in the first place. Most people obtain a loan or use their credit card without thinking about its consequences in […]

The Capital One data breach: the potential fallout of one of America’s largest banks

Capital One suffered a massive data breach, which affected approximately 100 million Americans; unsurprisingly, they are facing major scrutiny. Lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee sent correspondence to Capital One and Amazon requesting information on the incident. As is the mainstay of modern data breaches, it would appear that getting educated in the ways of data security is low on the priority list. The hacker, a former Amazon Web Services (AWS) employee, has been arrested, and while the suspect, Paige […]
