Renault signs deal to make 300,000 cars per year in Iran

PARIS/TEHRAN (UPI) -- French automaker Renault announced a joint venture with Iranian authorities on Monday, despite U.S. efforts to isolate Iran economically. The $779 million deal between Renault, Iran's state-run Industrial Development and Renovation Organization and privately-held Parto Negin Naseh, calls for up to 300,000 cars per year to be built at a factory in Saveh beginning in about 18 months. Huntington Ingalls awarded $36.4 million contract for work on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- Huntington Ingalls has received a $36.4 million contract for maintenance and modernization work on the USS Dwight D. Eight killed in shooting at Nigerian church

OZUBULU, Nigeria (UPI) -- At least 11 people died in a shooting Sunday at a church in southern Nigeria apparently by a lone gunman, police said. (UPI) -- Nissan factory workers in Mississippi this week overwhelmingly struck down a bid to join the United Auto Workers union, capping a years-long campaign that drew national attention.
