Rivian subcontractors to pay overtime wages
Penalties to total roughly $315,000

SPRINGFIELD (The Center Square) – Subcontractors for an Illinois-based electric vehicle maker have settled with the state over back overtime wages. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced a consent decree with construction subcontractors building a new production line for Rivian Automotive Inc. in Normal. The settlement requires two subcontractors to pay over $300,000 in back wages and penalties to resolve allegations that they failed to pay Mexican laborers overtime wages. Illinois organization warns of gas leaks and explosions

CHICAGO (The Center Square) – A new report from an Illinois advocacy group shows damaging methane gas pipeline leaks occur every 40 hours in the U.S. The Public Interest Research Group, or PIRG, reports between 2010 through nearly the end of 2021, almost 2,600 gas pipeline incidents occurred that were serious enough to require reporting to the federal government. Proposed legislation would allow hospitality workers to be paid minimum wage in addition to tips

SPRINGFIELD (The Center Square) – If a new bill becomes law, Illinois workers who get tips will receive the state’s minimum wage in addition to their tip money. State Rep.
