NAPERVILLE – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) would announce Monday that fall sports may be able to compete in the spring. That is if health conditions allow for competition to take place. This would impact football, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.

Each member institution is able to determine if and how much competition is best for their programs. Seasonal schedules are being drawn up with that in mind. However, there are some teams that will not be participating in the spring. Moreover, these determinations will include scrimmages, exhibitions, or countable contests.

Currently, women’s volleyball competition for the season is ready to begin the week of February 21. Then football and soccer will kick off beginning on March 20. However, there currently isn’t an official spring calendar for cross country meets.

Additionally, there will be no CCIW conference championships or conference-wide awards for these sports.

Conference officials, as well as campus officials, will continue monitoring campus, local, state, and federal provisions. This includes the availability of COVID-19 testing and making schedule changes as necessary.

About the CCIW

CCIW services nine member institutions between the two states. They include Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington and Millikin University in Decatur. Other member organizations are based in northern Illinois and portions of Wisconsin.

For football, Washington University at St. Louis is an affiliate member. As a result, some affiliate members are taking the place of institutions backing out for this season.
