Hornberger declared winner of Iowa Libertarian caucus

DES MOINES (Heartland Newsfeed) — Future of Freedom Foundation founder Jacob Hornberger was declared the winner of the Libertarian Party of Iowa‘s first-ever caucus held Saturday, according to a press release late Saturday evening.

Libertarians from throughout the Hawkeye State gathered at county-level caucuses and conventions to choose their preference for the Libertarian presidential nomination, as well as the election of officers, the development of county committees and to select delegates to the state convention in Des Moines later this month.

Also implemented in the process was the conducting of a virtual caucus, ensuring the greatest possible participation and inclusion of Libertarians across the state to add to the tradition.

Hornberger took a commanding 47.52% of the vote, with former Rhode Island governor and U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee, former 1996 VP nominee Jo Jorgensen, radio personality Adam Kokesh and entrepreneur Daniel Behrman rounding out the top five.

Iowa state delegates will elect their national delegates at their state convention and presidential forum, which will be held at Grand View University in Des Moines on Feb. 28-29. The presidential forum will be including nine candidates, including Hornberger.
