For the first time ever, the world saw more than 4 billion people log onto the Internet in 2018. Now that more than half of all human beings are online, technology innovations are bound to explode in 2019. Devices such as laptops and smartphones, which hardly existed just a decade ago, are now seemingly impossible to live without. Similarly, products which we have seen emerging in the last couple of years are expected to become part of the furniture in 2019. The devices below, from delivery drone technology and robot servants to superfast internet connections, are set to make life so convenient, that everyone will have to have one.
Drones For Personal and Business Use
December 1 was Amazon’s self-imposed deadline for adopting drone delivery. They may be running behind schedule, but 2019 is looking to be the year that drones finally go mainstream, becoming available to the average consumer. With the help of this new aerial camera technology, amateur photographers are able to explore new ways of capturing moments. As drones become cheaper to buy and easier to use, they are set to become as popular as the GoPro for action camera shots and the only means by which Amazon can beat its already incredible delivery times.
Indispensable AI Assistants
Humans have been interacting with artificial intelligence (AI) on a daily basis for years now and you probably don’t even notice it. Every time you Google something or watch Netflix, AI is behind your online experience. However, the introduction of robot assistants such as Siri and Alexa is a novel and awkward experience for many people. They are a little more human, a little closer to the uncanny valley, and getting used to them has taken a while. However, annual growth on AI spending is forecast to be 37.3% between 2017 and 2022. This means that 2019 will be the year that asking a robot to do your tasks will become another normal, everyday activity.
5G Enabled Smartphones
4G was quite impressive, but how about something 50-100 times faster? That’s what is promised by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and the Huawei P30. The titans of the smartphone world are promising that their 2019 releases will be 5G ready and you will wonder how you ever got by without it.
Every year, new tech releases continue to excite. 2019 does not look like it is going to disappoint. With drones filling the skies, AI assistants managing homes around the world and 5G internet, life is set to become even more fun and convenient than it already is.
