IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular (Weekend of March 1, 2025) Heartland Newsfeed
TAYLORVILLE (Heartland Newsfeed) — The Taylorville Chamber of Commerce released their entertainment schedule for this weekend’s Chillifest event over the weekend.
A welcoming speech from mayor Bruce Barry and the national anthem being sung by Shanda Courtway will kick off the opening ceremonies for the event.
The Lil’ Chilli Bean contest begins at 9 a.m. Saturday and will run until 1 p.m. Sunday, with the announcement of the winners being at 3 p.m. Entries, along with gun and prize raffle tickets being available for purchase, will be held in the purple and gold tent.
The pageants for the 2018 event’s four royalty crowns will also begin at 9 a.m. on the south stage.
Registration for the seventh annual bags tournament will begin at 10 a.m. with the event kicking off at 11 a.m. on both days. The tournament will be held on the northeastern corner of the courthouse square.
The Chillinois regional cookoff kicks off on the east side of the square beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Midwest regional cookoff kicking off Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Chili will be available in the tent on the southeastern corner of the courthouse lawn beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Saturday’s other food-related events include a chili-eating content at 11:30 a.m. and awards presentation at 5:00 p.m.
Various performances involving Brazilian jiu-jitsu, taekwondo and dance will take place on south stage beginning at noon and later in the day at 4 p.m. Music from Dexter Anodyne and Cross Country Classics will take place from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
On the north stage, entertainment from Cactus Ranch and Tim Zini will begin at noon, running until 4 p.m.
Sunday’s entertainment on the south stage include performances from Sky High Tumblers, as well as various members of Taylorville Junior High and Taylorville High School’s music and cheerleading programs, begins at 11:30 a.m. Music performances from Antone Derocchi and Cody Mooney will begin at 2 p.m.
Entertainment on the north stage from Relativity and Rockaholics will begin at noon.
