HILLSBORO — Montgomery County and BLH Computers will be teaming up to host an electronics recycling drive on Saturday, September 19.
The drive will be held at the former highway department building, located at 1215 Seymour Ave. in Hillsboro. The drive will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
Accepted items for free recycling include answering machines, battery backups, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), camcorders, cameras, cellular and mobile phones, Christmas tree lights, computer peripherals such as keyboards, mice, etc., desktop computers, DVD and CD players, fax machines, ink cartridges, laptops, mailroom equipment, networking equipment and cables, and pagers.
Other accepted free items include point of sale equipment, power and accessory cables, power tools (including batteries), printers, projectors, radios, receivers, satellite and cable equipment, speakers, smart phones, surge suppressors and power strips, tablets, telephones (including PBX equipment), toner, VCRs, video game consoles and walkie-talkies.
It is noted that for large office printers, those looking to recycle are instead asked to contact their local store.
Items that may be recycled for a fee include CRT and LCD monitors with a $10 fee, all televisions with a $20 fee, and both projection and console TVs at a cost of $40. TVs that are broken and in a bag will have their fees doubled. Information on the destruction of hard drives will be available during the drive.
Large drop-offs of more than 20 items are requested after 11 a.m. Businesses are welcome, and no receipts will be given.
Contact BLH Computers at (217) 585-1580 or go to blhcomputers.com with any questions about acceptable items.
