ST. LOUIS — St. Louis Blues General Manager Alexander Steen announced Thursday that the team has signed forward Connor McMichael to a six-year contract. The contract carries an average annual value of $6.75 million. The long-term deal signals that the Blues view McMichael as a core piece of their forward group. In addition, the Blues are committed to him through the prime of his career.
McMichael, 25, was acquired via trade from the Washington Capitals on June 23. He arrives in St. Louis with a track record as a reliable offensive contributor. Last season, he appeared in 78 regular-season games for the Capitals, recording 46 points (14 goals, 32 assists) and 30 penalty minutes. In 2024–25, he posted a career-high 26 goals and 57 points in 82 games. He would then add six points (four goals, two assists) in 10 postseason appearances. Therefore, McMichael is demonstrating an ability to produce in high-pressure situations.
The 6’0, 185-pound forward is known for his offensive instincts, quick release, and versatility, with experience at both center and wing. That flexibility should give the Blues additional options as they shape their top six and special teams units. With his scoring totals trending upward over the past two seasons, the new contract represents a bet that McMichael can continue to elevate his game. In addition, he can become a consistent driver of offense in St. Louis.
The Ajax, Ontario, native has totaled 154 points (67 goals, 87 assists) and 130 penalty minutes in 315 career appearances. A 2019 first-round draftee by Washington, McMichael is expected to compete for a prominent role with the Blues. This will include significant power-play time, as the club looks to add more scoring punch and speed to its lineup.
