Linda Rae Curlin, 81, of Pana passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Pana Community Hospital.

She was born September 20, 1940 in DuQuoin to the late Dwight and Cleo (Brock) Jones.

She married Virgil Shallenbarger on September 18, 1959 in the First United Methodist Church, Pana, and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1977.

Linda was a graduate of Pana High School, Class of 1958, and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pana. She was a devoted prayer warrior and had a devout faith in God. Prayer was her life and she prayed daily for everyone; family, friends, strangers, her city, the government, the country. She believed in the promise God gave her for the restoration of her family.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, but she was most defined by her relationship with God.

Linda is survived by her children Stacey Shallenbarger of Pana, Martha Thomas-Early of Pana, Eric L. (Marte) Shallenbarger of Taylorville, Virgil (Kelsey) Shallenbarger Jr. of Herrick, stepfather John “Pistol” Stahulak of Taylorville, grandchildren Timothy (Amanda) Thomas, David Lowe, Jon Early, Eric Shallenbarger Jr., Cody Smith, Grace Vaughn, Aiden Shallenbarger, and Lillian Shallenbarger, great-grandchildren Haven, Ambriel, Trinity, Aryana, Lucy, Teddy, and Leo, honorary granddaughter Natalie Inman, and brother Danny (Patty) Jones of Pana.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons David Shallenbarger and Timothy Shallenbarger and sister Sandra Jones.

Per Linda’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a private family inurnment will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Pana. The family will host a celebration of life service at the Pana Elks at a later date.

Memorials in Linda’s honor may be made to Jesus Loves You Ministries and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
