She graduated from Hillsboro High School and went on to follow her dream of becoming a nurse after graduating from the RN program at Lincoln Land Community College. Wendy continued her education through Chamberlain University, earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in nursing.

Wendy was a registered nurse at Barnes-Jewish Children’s Hospital, St. John’s Hospital, and Life Path Hospice as well as the Director of Hospice at Fayette County Health Department in Vandalia.

Wendy’s daughters, Hannah Stewart-El Hendy and Allie Dawson are proud of their mom for all she accomplished in her professional career and personal relationships. In Wendy’s own words, “Life is full of ups and downs, what matters most is not how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get back up, smile, and try again, hopefully inspiring others along the way.” Wendy’s life is an inspiration to many, especially her daughters.
