2026Talks - June 23, 2026 Heartland Newsfeed Radio Network
It will not be much longer until one of World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) top women prospects in the company makes the transition from developmental talent to main roster superstar.
In past weeks, video teasers have revealed that Toni Storm will make her debut on WWE Friday Night SmackDown soon.
However, during last night’s live broadcast from the Toyota Center in Houston, Tex., that date is much sooner than expectations would assume. Storm will be making her debut on next week’s SmackDown broadcast.
Storm first appeared on WWE television in 2017 and 2018 as an entrant in the Mae Young Classic. Despite a semi-finals elimination against Kairi Sane in 2017, she would return with a vengeance in 2018 to win it all.
Storm has been a feature in the United Kingdom territory of NXT for roughly two years. That was until she transitioned to the main NXT brand at NXT TakeOver 31 in October 2020.
The 25-year-old New Zealander, whose resume includes Progress Wrestling and Stardom, could be on a fast track for championship gold. In this case, this means the Smackdown Women’s Championship, currently held by Bianca Belair. Belair retained the championship last night in a lengthy bout against Carmella.
Currently, the creative department at WWE hasn’t had anyone being built up to challenge Belair for the title. However, with a few wins for Storm, she could be fast-tracked to number one contender status.
It’s currently difficult to gauge creative’s intentions for Storm.
