Fireflight’s Dawn Michele launches new Christian rock group

Fireflight frontwoman Dawn Michele is back at it, making music.

Michele announced on Tuesday that she formed a new band called Altira. The Christian rock upstart will soon be heading on the road this spring with Seventh Day Slumber and Magdelene Rose.

“My Friends! I have been working on new music for quite a while now,” Michele stated on social media. “Music born from both hope and pain, from both anger and the desire for peace, and most of all born from the desire to be freed from enslavement to fear.”

“Only when we leave fear behind can we be fully abandoned to being the hands and feet of Jesus here on earth,” Michele adds. “I hope all of you will help me spread the word about my new Christian rock group @altiramusic. Our new songs will begin dropping soon!”

Altira will go on tour in March, with tour dates becoming available soon.

It was not determined whether Altira is considered a side project or whether it is truly the end for Fireflight.

A January 2024 Spanish-language interview with Lucas Prates revealed remarks by Michele that Fireflight was “semi-retired,” but isn’t entirely out of action for future music releases.

Fireflight hasn’t released music since 2020’s Who We Are: The Head and the Heart.

Based on early details, nothing is really known about the other band members.

Once singles drop, we are hoping to get them on airplay on Revolution Radio as soon as possible.
