TAYLORVILLE — Published court appearances reflect the daily 10:00 a.m. criminal call and do not necessarily account for all felony proceedings heard that day. The following cases were heard in the Fourth Circuit Court by Judge Brad Paisley on January 12, 16, and 23:
- Jeremy L. Cole, 22CF3, 22CF123, 22CF124, 22CF146. (Criminal trespassing of a residence with a person present; two counts of driving with a revoked or suspended license; felony possession or use of a weapon or firearm; possession of five or less grams of meth.) During the pre-trial hearing the defendant was ordered to be on electronic monitoring while awaiting his plea hearing on January 16, 2024.
- Matthew T. Morrissey, 21CF259, 23CF35, 21CF340, 23CF38. (Receive possess or sell a stolen vehicle; resist a peace officer, corrections employee or fire fighter; theft of display merchandise that costs less than $300; delivery of five or fewer grams of meth; three counts of possession of five or fewer grams of meth.) The pre-trial has been continued to February, 27, 2024.
- Tavonn M. Adams, 23CF98 (Possession of 500 to 2,000 grams of cannabis/ charge amended or reduced; manufacturing or delivering 30 to 500 grams of cannabis; possession amount of a narcotic schedule one and two drug.) The negotiated plea hearing was held today. The defendant pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis and will serve first-offender probation, pay fines, and comply with probation services. Other pending charges were dismissed.
- Neil R. Hall, 23CF27. (Failure to register after moving.) The defendant pleads guilty to the charges of failing to register as a sex offender. The defendant was sentenced to twenty-four months of probation and 180 days of home confinement.
- Roy J. Bates (Murder with intent to kill or injure; attempt to disarm a peace officer or corrections employee; category two armed violence; two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm to a peace officer; five counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer.) A pre-trial hearing was held for on motion for examination of the defendant by a psychiatrist, The status of the review is set for February 20, 2024.
- Timothy E. Wiseman, 22CF126. (Possession of meth in an amount between five and fifteen grams/judgment/ bond forfeiture.) The defendant is given notice to appear for a plea hearing on February 27, 2024.
- Kyle D. Brown, 21CF49, 22CF217. (indecent solicitation of a child on the internet/dismissed by the court; two counts for possession of five or less grams of meth/ served ninety-eight day in jail with credit for forty-nine days, thirty months of probation; soliciting a sexual act from a person under the age of 18 or someone who is intellectually disabled/ ninety-eight day in jail with credit for forty-nine days, thirty months of probation.) There was a status hearing for the petition to revoke probation. The matters have been continued to February 27, 2024.
- Jacob C. Krouse, 23CF87, 23CF102. (Aggravated cruelty to animals; aggravated battery of a peace officer/ charge amended or reduced; resisting a peace officer, fire fighter, or corrections employee causing an injury.) A status update was provided during the pre-trial hearing today, evidence was submitted, and the next hearing was scheduled for March 1, 2024
- Danny J. Lowis, 23CF114. (Criminal trespassing with a person present.) The state motioned to dismiss the charges and there aren’t any further hearings set for the charges.
- Larry L. Scott, S06656, 17CF194. (Murder with intent to kill or injure/ forty-five years in the Department of Corrections with credit for 456 days served; aggravated battery involving the discharge of a firearm/ dismissed; aggravated discharge of a firearm while in a vehicle/ dismissed; reckless discharge of a firearms/ dismissed; murder with a strong probability to kill or injure/dismissed.) The status hearing on petition proceedings was continued to April 8, 2024.
- Jared A. Miller, 22CF256. (Theft of display merchandise worth $300 or less.) The preliminary hearing was held today, finding probable cause for the charges. The defendant pled not guilty and pre-trial was set for March 1, 2024.
- Kameron R. Townsend, 23CF128. (Theft of display merchandise, valued at $300 or less.) The preliminary hearing was held today finding probable cause and the defendant pled not guilty. The next hearing is scheduled for February 29, 2024.
- Jason L. Leach, 23CF24. (Manufacturing a false document/ unfit to stand trial .) status hearing regarding fitness for trial. The next hearing is set for Feb 1, 2024.
- Anthony M. Holmes, 23CF154. (Delivering five or less grams of meth.) The pre-trial hearing has been continued to March 22, 2024.
- Jason D. Lindsey, 22CF185. (Burglary; theft with intent to steal an amount ranging between $500 to $10k worth of property.) pre-t march 21, 2024 the public defender appointed and the defendant pleas not guilty. The was matter continued to March 21, 2024.
- Amy J. Williamson, 24CF8. (Attempting to sell a controlled substance in the schedule two narcotic category within range of a school or park.) The first appearance was held finding probable cause for the charges. The defendant was released to wait for trial, to be supervised under pre-trial services. The next hearing is scheduled for March 18, 2024
- George T. Bailey, 19CF114, 20CF260, 22CF89, 22CF91. (Aggravated domestic battery involving a strangle/ dismissed by motion of the state; domestic battery causing harm with two or more previous convictions/ 182 days in jail with credit for 182 served, one year in the department of corrections and two years of probation; aggravated assault of a peace officer, firefighter, or emergency worker/ one year in the department of corrections and 182 days of credit for time served; three counts of possession of five or fewer grams of meth;) The defendant appeared in court and the plea hearing was rescheduled for March 21, 2024.
- Dale R. Detmers, 20CF199. (Possession of five or less grams of meth, two year of probation.) The petition to revoke probation pre-trial was reset for March 21, 2024.
- Thomas E. Merrifield, 22CF29. (Possession of meth in an amount less than five grams.) The pre-trial hearing was continued to February 22, 2024.
- Chad A. Wilber, 23CF74. (Delivering between fifteen to 100 grams of meth/ charge amended or reduced; possession of five or less grams of meth.) Pre-trial was scheduled for February 29, 2024.
- Aaron C. Davis, 23CF33. (Theft with intent to control property worth between $500 to 10k.) The defendant was given notice to appear today and agreed to a 402 conference at 8:49 on February 29, 2024 with pre-trial to follow at 10 a.m.
- Michael R. Everly, 23CF135. (Violation of the sex offender registry.) Pre-trial was set for February 29, 2024.
- Bradley C. Long, 23CF91. (Two counts of manufacturing and delivering between fifteen to 100 grams of cocaine.) Pre-trial was scheduled for February 29, 2024.
- Jada B. Reeves, 23CF122. (Burglary; aggravated fleeing from the police while going twenty-one miles over the speed limit.) The negotiated plea hearing was continued to February 29, 2024.
- Dalton L. Dupont, 23CF44 (Aggravated battery of a child under the age of thirteen causing bodily harm.) The final pre-trial will be on April 23, 2024 with the jury trial set for May 6, 2024.
- Mathieu L. Kuhns, 22CF88. (Two counts of delivering five or fewer grams of meth.) pre-t was reset for February 29, 2024.
- Shawn L. Christian, 23CF165. (Criminal sexual abuse, using force.) A status hearing was held today. Pre-trial is set for February 6, 2024 and the jury trial will be on March 4, 2024.
The following cases were heard in the Fourth Circuit Court by Judge Joshua Morrison on January 18:
- Robert A. Stivers, 16CF42. (Aggravated battery of a victim thirteen years of age or younger causing a permanent disability/ guilty, merged with other offense; two counts of murder with a strong probability that killing or injuring the victim was known/ one count dismissed by the state, Serving fifty years in the department of corrections and has credit for 769 days served.) The status hearing was continued to February 29, 2024
- Georg Goins, 23CF134 (Four counts of reproducing illicit images of children under the age of thirteen.) Pre-trial was reset for March 14, 2024.
- Samantha C. Olivio, 22CF41, 22CF113, 22CF265, 23CF12. (Possession of meth in an amount under five grams/ served 262 days in jail with credit for four days served, thirty months of probation; robbery while armed with a firearm/ charge amended or reduced; robbery/ served 262 days in jail with credit for 131 days served, thirty months of probation; residential burglary; theft taking unauthorized control of a property worth between $500 and 10k; unlawful possession of a credit or debit card.) A possible plea hearing was scheduled for Jan 26, 2024
- Bradley P. Graham, 23CF87. (Drug induced homicide.) Pre-trial was continued to a possible plea hearing on February 22, 2024.
- Joshua D. Foil, 22CF153 (Aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.) The defendant entered a negotiated plea, A pay or appear hearing was set for April 24, 2024.
- Joseph F. Sherman, 23CF161. (Criminal sexual assault of a victim between the age of thirteen and seventeen who is under their supervision/ charge amended or reduced; aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim over the age of five.) Pre-trial was continued to February 2, 2024.
- Derrick L. Covington, 22CF66. (Aggravated driving while going twenty-one miles over the speed limit/ served 168 days in jail with credit for 84 and 30 days of home confinement, serving eighteen months of probation; Driving on a suspended license/ dismissed by motion of the state.) The petition to revoke probation pre-trial was set for March 1, 2024.
- Joseph L. Aumen, (Category two armed violence; aggravated fleeing from two or more traffic control devices/ dismissed by motion of the state.) The motion hearing was reset for Jan. 19, 2024. The final pre-trial is set for Jan. 23, 2024, with the jury trial scheduled for February 12, 2024.
- Robert T. Gerk, 21CF143, (Possession of five or less grams of meth/ dismissed by motion of the state; possession of a controlled substance/ two years of probation and thirty hours of community service.) There was a petition to revoke probation review with a status on payment of fines. A pay or appear hearing will be on March 27, 2024 at 9 a.m.
