ST. LOUIS — Jordan Binnington made 30 saves for the St. Louis Blues in their 5-0 blowout victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning. The win at the Enterprise Center Tuesday marks the Blues’ third consecutive win in their third straight win.
Colton Parayko gave St. Louis the lead at 11:09 in the first period off a rush coordinated by Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich.
The Blues would get two goals in the second period, courtesy of Jordan Kyrou and Jakub Vrana. Both goals were 19 seconds apart from each other at 16:17 and 16:36 respectively. The Kyrou goal comes streaking in off the right on a breakaway from Torey Krug before lifting a backhand past Lightning goalie Jonas Johansson. Vrana’s goal via a wrist shot came from the right circle from a cross-ice pass from Krug.
Kasperi Kapanen makes it 4-0 at 16:02 in the third period via an empty-net goal. Not even barely over three minutes later, Kyrou scores his second goal at 19:18 via a snap shot.
Krug and Buchnevich finished the game with two assists each for the Blues (8-5-1), who have won five of their last six games. Thomas adds an assist to extend his point streak to seven games.
Johansson made 24 saves for the Lightning (6-6-4), who were shut out for the second consecutive game. Tampa Bay has lost three straight.
The Blues will be traveling on the road tomorrow in anticipation of their next game on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks (2-12-1). Meanwhile, the Lightning will travel up Interstate 55 to Chicago for their Thursday matchup against the Blackhawks (5-8-0).
