TAYLORVILLE — Taylorville’s only community-owned bank, First National Bank in Taylorville, held its customer appreciation day on Friday, September 29 with food, giveaways, and raffles. In the past, this has always been an annual event, but over the last few years with the remodeling of their parking lot and the unfortunate events of COVID-19, the always anticipated customer appreciation day had been put on hold.
This year, under the new leadership of Jared Beckham, who took the role of President and CEO on January 1, 2023, bringing back the once-annual event has been a priority.
“It’s an opportunity for us to show our customers and our community overall just how much we truly appreciate the trust they give us in helping with their financial needs,” says Beckham.
In years past, First National Bank in Taylorville celebrated on a Sunday in May with food and giveaways. This year, FNBT tried something just a little bit different.
Big Jake’s BBQ from Assumption provided a choice of BBQ pork or chicken sandwiches, chips, and a drink. Bank employees visited customers while passing out cookies after the meal and in addition, each customer walked away with a goodie bag.
The digital sign on the corner of West Main Cross and Webster Streets was beautifully decorated with balloons by Taylorville’s own Designed with Detail for the community to notice the occasion. During the day on Friday, in the lobbies of both Taylorville and the Mt. Auburn branch, cookies provided by Happy Baked Goods were served and a raffle was set up to win a bag full of FNBT goodies.
“We had a great turnout, serving around 300 people,” Beckham added. “It was great to see our customers come together again.”
