The following is a collection of local news stories we’re following for Wednesday, August 24:

MACON: South Macon Public Library to hold September 7 open house

The South Macon Public Library will be holding an open house at the library on Wednesday, September 7.

Thanks to an On the Road to Recovery grant, the library has been receiving updates. The updates included new computers, a new printer, and improved wireless Internet service.

The public is welcome to attend the open house from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

MT. ZION: Ag college, career fair Thursday

An FFA College and Career Fair will take place this Thursday, August 25.

The event, presented by the Macon County Farm Bureau Young Leaders, will be held inside the gymnasium at Mt. Zion High School.

Local FFA chapters are welcome to bring students to the event to connect with potential educators and employers about agriculture career path opportunities.

BLUE MOUND: Adult yoga on September 1 at Memorial Library

The Blue Mound Memorial Library will be hosting “Adult Yoga for Beginners” on Thursday, September 1.

The event host is Debbie Berry and it will take place in the Library Annex from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Berry is a Blue Mound native with many years of experience in teaching yoga. She has also taught classes at the Christian County YMCA in Taylorville.

Attendees should wear comfortable clothing, a towel, and a yoga mat. If you do not have a yoga mat, please contact the library and one will be provided to you.

MOWEAQUA: Best Pie in Moweaqua contest set for October 8

The annual Best Pie in Moweaqua contest is returning, and its date will be Saturday, October 8. The event will be at the Moweaqua Public Library.

The contest is open to all ages with no entry fee requirement.

Registration for the contest will begin at 10 a.m., with judging beginning at 11 a.m.

All pie entries must have a double crust and be made by the contestant.

The winner will receive a special prize.

More information about the contest will be available at the library, on their Facebook page, and on their website.

RAMSEY: Farewell celebration planned for Daniels

Ramsey Christian Church pastor Larry Daniel and his wife Joni are soon returning to Joplin, Mo. to care for family members.

The Daniels’ final day at the church will be this Sunday, August 28. A celebration will occur with the community welcome to attend.

The Sunday service will be at 9 a.m., with a potluck at 11 a.m. A time of reminiscing and farewell time will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.
