Culver-Stockton picked to finish second in HAAC’s North Division in preseason football coaches’ poll

PHOTO COURTESY CULVER-STOCKTON Senior quarterback Jase Orndorff will lead the Culver-Stockton College football team this fall in pursuit of a Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division championship.

CANTON, Mo. — With a historic 8-3 finish for Culver-Stockton last fall, it was enough for coaches in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC or Heart) to vote them to finish second in the conference’s North Division preseason poll.

The Wildcats are second next to three-time defending divisional champion Grand View. The conference coaches unanimously voted them the favorite in the division with five first-place votes and 25 total points.

Culver-Stockton received a total of 21 points. This comprises of four second-place votes and one first-place vote.

The Wildcats finished second in the North Division with a 4-1 record. Their only divisional loss was a 9-6 loss to eventual divisional champion Grand View in the divisional championship game.

Quarterback Jase Orndorff is returning this season. Orndorff has 2,133 yards and 21 touchdowns last season, only throwing four interceptions all season.

Junior safety David Hernandez and senior linebacker Eric Nicks also return to anchor a defensive corps that only allowed four touchdowns in five divisional games last season.

The Wildcats’ 2022 campaign opens on August 27 in an away game against Baker in Baldwin City, Kan.
