LONDON/WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — One of the most influential and recognized voices in golf for more than two decades is joining the broadcast team of LIV Golf.
The upstart golf organization announced in a press release Friday that David Feherty is joining the company. Not only will he be an on-air commentator, but he will also serve as co-executive producer of live event coverage.
The renowned media personality is known for delivering insight and humor to audiences around the globe. His debut will be at the Bedminster Invitational on July 29-31.
Feherty will also serve as a host and producer for an original new series in collaboration with LIV Golf.
“When you think of legendary broadcasters in the world of golf, David Feherty’s name is at the top of the list,” said Commissioner Greg Norman. “His authentic style blends unique perspective, personality, and wit that educates and entertains fans like no other.”
“Following more than 20 years as a player, he brought a new voice to the sport that has transcended golf culture,” Norman adds. “We’re extremely proud of the LIV Golf broadcast launch through just two events. David will only strengthen that experience at Bedminster and beyond.”
The announcement was made with welcome messages from LIV Golf players.
Feherty, a Northern Ireland native, joined the ranks of professional golf in 1976. Throughout his career, he won ten worldwide events. Some highlights include appearances in the 1991 Ryder Cup and a top-ten finish in the 1994 Open Championship.
After 15 years, Feherty swapped his golf clubs for a broadcaster headset in 1997. He first started as an analyst and on-course reporter.
A New York Times best-selling author, Feherty has held high-profile roles covering hundreds of marquee events. Some of these events include major championships and international competitions.
Feherty premiered his namesake talk program Feherty in 2011. In the ten-year run of the program, he hosted and interviewed nearly 150 different guests. Some of the world’s biggest names on the show include four U.S. Presidents, Hollywood celebrities, and global sports legends.
“As a storyteller, this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to help write a new chapter in this sport’s history,” said Feherty. “LIV Golf is developing ideas and innovations that are going to grow the audience and engage the next generation of players and fans.”
“I’m excited by the energy LIV Golf is creating and I’m eager to contribute to a world-class broadcast production that has a vision towards the future,” adds Feherty.
Feherty will join an existing broadcast team comprising of play-by-play announcer Arlo White, analysts Jerry Foltz and Dom Boulet, and on-course commentators Su-Ann Heng and Troy Mullins.
