Loretta M. Cassidy, 83, of Coalton passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
The daughter of Leon and Valia (Lorenzi) Charles, she was born March 3, 1938 in Auburn.
She married Marvin “Pooch” West on March 30, 1958. He preceded her in death on August 25, 1970. She then married William Cassidy on September 21, 1973, and he survives.
Loretta was a dental assistant for Dr. Welch and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, the CCW, and the Church Quilters. She was awarded the CCW Women of Distinction Award.
She enjoyed baking and reading romance novels but her true joys were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by Debbie (Rick) Cearlock of Coalton, Vicki (Joe) Beasley of Nokomis, and step-daughter Deborah (Gerald) Kniffen of Whittington, grandchildren Vanessa Taylor, Tyler (Jenny) Cearlock, Jeremy (Jennifer) Beasley, Kristan (Ben) Endris, Kerri (Amanda) Beasley, Garrett Kniffen, and Cody (Jessi) Kniffen, great-grandchildren Drake Taylor, Grady Taylor, Remi Cearlock, Kenna Cearlock, Cora Waggoner, Jacob Beasley, Melia Endris, and Gavin Endris, and brothers Jim (Carolyn) Charles of Largo, FL and Joe (Pat) Charles of Virden.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Marvin West, and one daughter in infancy.
Funeral mass will be held Monday, Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church, Nokomis with visitation two hours prior to service. The burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery.
The family asks that you wear masks and be safe. Memorials are suggested to St. Louis School or St. Louis Church.
