Doris Rose House, 89, of Moweaqua, died January 13, 2022 surrounded by her daughters.
Doris was born on September 5, 1932 in West Frankfort, the daughter of Ray and Clara (Ewing) Summers.
She was happily married to Virgil Earl “Red” House for 72 years. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2021.

Doris attended Grace Baptist Church of Moweaqua and was a member of Fame Evangelical Church. She was best known to her family and friends for her homemade baked goods, especially her pies and chocolate sheet cakes. She worked as the cafeteria manager at Moweaqua and Central A&M schools, retiring after 25 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Farkle with her Moweaqua Senior Citizens friends and attended many Christian women’s Bible studies.
Surviving are her daughters Wini (Chip) Aschenbrenner of Niles, MI, Barb (Andrew) Keaney of Gautier, MS, Sandi (Rick) Callison of Moweaqua, and Earleen Crowson of Louisville, MS, grandchildren Michelle (Brent) Kastner, Natalie (Tyler) McCullough, Dawn Aschenbrenner, Eric (Nikki) Callison, Josh (Mary Margaret) Crowson, and Richard Crowson, great-grandchildren Emma McCullough, Drew McCullough, Meagan McCullough, Jakob Kastner, Madelyn Kastner, Cara Crowson, Cayden Crowson, and Graham Callison, and sister Edith Dillard of Duncanville, TX.
Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, and sisters Helen Sandusky and Lillian Owens.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.
Physical distancing and masks are encouraged. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church or Moweaqua Senior Citizens.
