Lester R. “Jim” Weeden, 80, of Pana, formerly of Taylorville, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Pana Community Hospital.
He was born on September 4, 1941 in Taylorville, the son of Lester O. “Shorty” and Anna (Browning) Weeden.
Lester married Barbara A. Tolly on January 5, 1964 in Taylorville, and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2014.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving on the Sullivan DD537 and his memberships include the American Legion Post # 168 and IBEW Local #1361. He was a mechanic at Commonwealth Edison in Kincaid, IL from February 27, 1968 until his retirement on December 11, 1995.
Lester is survived by his daughter Wendy (Steve) Brookens of Taylorville, granddaughter Hayden Baker of Taylorville, brother Robert Weeden of Florida, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Jackie Weeden.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Graveside service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.at Edinburg Cemetery with Pastor Earl Baker officiating.
Inurnment will be in Edinburg Cemetery with military graveside honors immediately following the service.
