William R. “Bill” Everett, 82, of Owaneco went home to Heaven at 8 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2022 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
Bill was born on January 31, 1939, at home in Strasburg, the son of Loren and Vera (Fluke) Everett.

He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1957. Bill began working as a cabinet maker. He later worked as a machinist for American Brass in Mattoon, then as a self-employed carpenter at Everett Construction, and was always a farmer. He married his high school sweetheart, Jana Lee Stierwalt on December 10, 1959.
Bill was a former member of the Washington United Methodist Church near Strasburg and currently attended Way of Life Church in Taylorville. He loved to sing and was a member of the Coles County Barbershop Chorus. Bill served on the Board of Directors for the Mode Camp in Mode.
He enjoyed working on the farm, woodworking, caring for his animals, gardening, sharing his faith with anyone he met, and spending time with his grandchildren. On May 24, 1997, Bill married Jane Elaine (Shuler) McLaughlin.
He is survived by his wife Jane, daughter Dorinda Everett of Salem, step-children Chad McLaughlin (Kelly) of Owaneco, Michael McLaughlin (Krissy) of East Peoria, and Mandy Boehler (Dave) of Owaneco, brother Jim Everett of Shelbyville, sister Melba Talbott of Wildwood, MO, and six grandchildren Mikayla Brown (Michael), Briar McLaughlin, Will Boehler, Abby Boehler, Hadley McLaughlin, and Grayson McLaughlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Jana; son Jeff Everett, and sister Joanie Gentry.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2022, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Pastor Stan Pratt and Pastor Bob Turner officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg.
Memorials may be given to the Mode Camp or Faith Bible Christian Academy in Rosamond.
